UGRAN WITH DOUBLE WIN AND SIMONAZZI WITH PODIUM AT PAUL RICARD
The second of seven races of the Spanish FIA F4 Championship took place on the fast GP circuit of Paul Ricard (F).
Since this event was run ideally before the next event of the Italian Championship, which we will focus on this year, we took the opportunity to race with our drivers just to give them some experience.
There were 21 entries and our team was kindly accepted into the championship.
QUALIFYING
Friday, 21/08/20, 17.35 – 17.50, Weather: Sunny, 30°C
There are two qualifying sessions, each 15 minutes long, with the first session taking place on Saturday morning. The times from this session are used to set the starting grid of the first race and the second race grid is set based on the second fastest time of each driver in Q1. On Sunday morning the second session was held to set the starting grid for the third race.

FIA F4 SPANISH CHAMPIONSHIP
RACE ONE (18 MINUTES + 1 LAP)
Saturday, 22/08/20, 12.00, Weather: Sunny, 29°C
The race started in the midday heat. Filip got well underway and took the lead. Francesco had a very good first lap and worked his way up to 4th place. Jasin held his place and was 7th. There was an accident with a car that had stalled on the grid and the safety car was immediately deployed. Filip made no mistake at the restart and then increased his lead. He managed to set very good lap times in the remaining time and then deservedly saw the checkered flag in first position. For the first time, he proudly climbed to the top of the podium in this category. Francesco managed to bring home the excellent 4th place. Jasin fought with Fluxa and managed to overtake him in a nice maneuver on the very last lap. He crossed the finish line in a very good 6th place.

RACE TWO (18 MINUTES + 1 LAP)
Sunday, 23/08/20, 13.50, Weather: Sunny, 27°C
Haverkort and Boya started very well and were already ahead, but Filip fought like a lion in the next corners and regained the lead. The safety car had to be deployed when Haverkort went off. At the restart, Boya came under pressure from Goethe, and Filip immediately managed to create a small distance between himself and his pursuers. From now on nobody could stop him and with very fast lap times he deservedly brought home the second win in a row. The first lap was also very exciting for Francesco and Jasin, they switched positions with Fluxa and Bordas. After the safety car phase they were back in their original positions, Francesco was 6th and Jasin 7th. A little later, Jasin managed to overtake Francesco. Jasin was 4th and Francesco 5th. Jasin soon fought with Fluxa, who pushed him off track. As Jasin lost momentum, Francesco passed Jasin again and reached the finishing line in a very good 4th place. Jasin continued and filed into the field again in 6th place.
After the race, Fluxa was handed a time penalty for his action. With that, Francesco moved up to 3rd place on the podium, and Jasin was placed 5th.

FIA F4 SPANISH CHAMPIONSHIP
RACE THREE (25 MINUTES + 1 LAP)
Sunday, 23/08/20, 18.25, Weather: Sunny, 28°C
Filip started well and had worked his way up to 3rd place after two laps. Boya made a mistake at the front and fell back. That put Dufek in the lead and Filip was 2nd In the first laps of the race Filip had used his tires hard and an attack was now difficult. But Dufek experienced the same. The top group fought hard and when Dufek fell back, Goethe took his chance and went into the lead. Filip managed to bring home excellent 2nd place safely ahead of Boya. Francesco was battling with Nosov from the first lap. Francesco was in front, then Nosov again and so it went. Francesco held the position in the end and reached the finish in a good 8th place. Jasin had lost several positions after the start. From 19th place he managed to work his way up to 13th place at the finish.
Now we are looking ahead to the second race event of the FIA F4 Italian Championship which takes place in Imola (I) next weekend (30th August 2020).
